"Like in Calvino’s story (The Castle of Crossed Destinies) these eight photographic works may be interpreted as so many other wordless paths, possible maps of wanderings traced through that 'thick forest' that is, quite simply, the everyday world in which we live. If each of these 'precious miniatures' accurately reflects the experience of walking wide-eyed across the landscape (indeed, 'exactitude' is another word dear to Calvino), their juxtaposition creates a web of personal biographies, conversations with travelling companions near and far, as well as meditations on the very act of looking"

« Comme dans l’histoire de Calvino (Le château des destins croisés), ces huit œuvres photographiques peuvent se lire comme tout autant de parcours dénués de paroles, comme des cartes potentielles des pérégrinations menées dans ce « bois touffu » qui est tout simplement le lieu où nous vivons au quotidien. Si chacune de ces « précieuses miniatures » rend avec précision cette traversée des paysages, effectuée avec des yeux émerveillés (« exactitude » est un autre terme cher à Calvino), leur juxtaposition laisse transparaître les fils biographiques reliant les différents personnages, leurs conversations avec leurs compagnons de voyages, proches et lointains, leurs méditations sur l’acte de regarder. »

Alessandra Dragoni (Ravenna, 1963) has worked for Magnum Photos, Paris, ABC Press Photo, Amsterdam, and for Mondadori, Milan. Her work has been exhibited at the Rencontres d'Arles and Paris Photo, at the Italian Culture Institute in New York, and at the FotoGrafia Festival Internazionale in Rome. All the Flowers that You Plant was recently published by Skinnerboox.
Cesare Fabbri (Ravenna, 1971) studied photography and urban planning at the IUAV in Venice. In 2009, along with Silvia Loddo, he founded the Osservatorio Fotografico, an experimental platform on photography research. His book The Flying Carpetwas published by MACK in 2017. Cesare Fabbri has exhibited at the Fondation A Stichting in Brussels in 2017 and on two occasions at Large Glass: in 2018 as part of the exhibition entitled A Coin in Nine Hands and in 2019 with Mark Ruwedel.
Guido Guidi (Cesena, 1941) is considered one of the leading figures of Italian photography. Presented at the Venice Biennale, the Fondation Henri Cartier-Bresson in Paris, Huis Marseille in Amsterdam, the Fondation A Stichting in Brussels, and at the MAXXI Museum in Rome, his work was the subject of a recent retrospective in Barcelona: Da Zero, held at the Palau de La Virreina. His photographs are part of numerous collections, including the Bibliothèque Nationale de France and Centre Pompidou, Paris, as well as those of the Fondazione Sandretto Re Rebaudengo of Turin and the ICCD Rome, the Canadian Centre for Architecture in Montréal. He has published an impressive number of books and has taught at the Università IUAV in Venice and at the Accademia di Belle Arti in Ravenna.
Francesca Gardini (Lugo, 1981) has collaborated since 2012 with the theatre company Teatro delle Albe. She has worked with Jonathan Frantini since 2009. In 2013, her book Una mattina was published as part of the Dove Viviamo project, organized by Osservatorio Fotografico. Following a residency at Casablanca in 2017, her work was shown at the Institut français in Tangier.
Luca Nostri (Lugo, 1976) obtained his photography PhD with a thesis entitled “Place and Identity in Italian Photography through a Study of the Town of Lugo”. In 2005, he created Lugo Land, an independent cultural association linked with a publishing house that supports photography exploring concepts of territory. His photographs were exhibited at the Rencontres d’Arles in 2008, the Studio Museum (Harlem, NY) in 2014, and at the MAXXI Museum (Rome) in 2019. In 2020, Linea di Confine published his book Anselmo.
Francesco Neri (Faenza, 1982) has been teaching photography since 2014, as a tutor at the AA School of Architecture in London and as a professor at the Institute of Graphic Design in Faenza. Trophy and Treasure was published by Snoeck in 2017. In 2018, he won the August Sander Award at the Photographische Sammlung/SK Stiftung Kultur in Cologne. The book Farmers was published in 2020 by Hartmann Books in collaboration with the Fondation A Stichting in Brussels.
Marcello Galvani (Ravenna, 1975) studied at the Academy of Fine Art in Ravenna under Guido Guidi. Large Glass presented a series of his work at Photo London in 2017. Marcello Galvani has published several books, including Eggs and Asparagus (Skinnerboox, 2017) and Meteo (Sete, 2020). His photographs are part of the permanent collections of the MAXXI Museum in Rome and the Fotomuseum in Winterthur.
Nicola Baldazzi (Ravenna, 1985) began a collaboration in 2013 with Veronica Lanconelli. That same year, Osservatorio Fotografico published his first book, Piccolo prontuario di fotografia segnaletica. In 2017, his work was shown as part of the Dove Viviamo project, an exhibition curated by Silvia Loddo, within Street Photography – A Tribute to Everyday Life, Øksnehallen in Copenhagen. He didn’t believe me, with Veronica Lanconelli was published in 2018.
