Following studies in the visual arts at the Ecole de Recherche Graphique (ERG) in Brussels and a residency at Ateliers ’63 in Haarlem, Jean-Paul Deridder has participated in countless exhibitions and publishing projects.
His work has been shown at Micheline Szwajcer Gallery in Antwerp and at the Galerie Thomas Zander in Cologne. Cofounder of the Fondation A Stichting in Brussels, he held the role of director from October 2012 to January 2020. He curated numerous exhibitions (Judith Joy Ross, Mitch Epstein, Lewis Baltz, Bernd & Hilla Becher, Max Regenberg, Lee Friedlander, Jo Ratcliffe, Luc Chessex, Facundo de Zuviria, Walker Evans, Koji Onaka, Guido Guidi, Cesare Fabbri, Vincen Beeckman, Robert Adams, Jerry Thompson, Polly Braden & David Campany, Paolo Gasparini, Nicholas Nixon, Georges Senga, Henry Wessel, Francesco Neri).
He also curated the exhibition American Documents at FOMU Antwerp in 2010 and Fragments at Paris Photo at the Grand Palais in 2019. For the Foundation, he implemented the educational programme Découverte. Today, he writes and teaches on art and photography, both past and present.
Na zijn opleiding in de beeldende kunsten aan de Ecole de Recherche Graphique (ERG) in Brussel en als deelnemer aan Ateliers ’63 in Haarlem, werkte Jean-Paul Deriddermee aan diverse tentoonstellings- en publicatieprojecten. Zijn werk was te zien in Galerie Micheline Szwajcer in Antwerpen en Galerie Thomas Zander in Keulen. Hij was medeoprichter van Fondation A Stichting in Brussel en was er directeur van oktober 2012 tot januari 2020.
In die hoedanigheid cureerde hij talloze tentoonstellingen (Judith Joy Ross, Mitch Epstein, Lewis Baltz, Bernd & Hilla Becher, Max Regenberg, Lee Friedlander, Jo Ratcliffe, Luc Chessex, Facundo de Zuviria, Walker Evans, Koji Onaka, Guido Guidi, Cesare Fabbri, Vincen Beeckman, Robert Adams, Jerry Thompson, Polly Braden & David Campany, Paolo Gasparini, Nicholas Nixon, Georges Senga, Henry Wessel, Francesco Neri).
Hij was tevens de tentoonstellingscommissaris van de expo American Documents in het FOMU in Antwerpen in 2010 en van de tentoonstelling Fragments op Paris Photo in het Grand Palais in 2019. Voor de Stichting ontwikkelde hij het pedagogische programma Découverte. Vandaag schrijft hij en geeft hij les in de kunst- en fotografiegeschiedenis.
